Sydney’s New Year’s Eve fireworks display was nothing short of extraordinary, featuring 23,000 individual pyrotechnic shots, over 13,000 aerial shells, and 40,000 mesmerizing ground effects. The entire spectacle was expertly choreographed by Fortunato Foti, a seventh-generation pyrotechnics master, renowned for his unmatched artistry. Adding to the magic, a custom soundtrack curated by award-winning screen composer Luna Pan perfectly synchronized with the vibrant display, creating a truly immersive experience for the millions watching live and on television.

While Sydney led the celebrations, Melbourne dazzled its residents and visitors with rooftop fireworks and a cutting-edge laser show. Crowds gathered at iconic locations such as Docklands, The Shrine, Flagstaff Gardens, and Treasury Gardens to soak in the festivities, which were also broadcast live on Channel Nine.

The excitement didn’t stop there. Adelaide, Brisbane, and Darwin hosted their own stunning New Year’s celebrations shortly after, each featuring unique displays that lit up their respective skylines. Finally, Perth rounded off the nationwide festivities, ensuring every major Australian city welcomed 2025 in spectacular style. This synchronized celebration across Australia showcased the nation’s spirit of unity and its reputation for delivering world-class events that capture global attention.

He launched into his electrifying set with the crowd-pleasing anthem, Let Me Entertain You, setting the tone for a high-energy show. True to his larger-than-life persona, Williams greeted the audience with humor and confidence, saying, “I am Robbie Williams. As the performance continued, Williams brought the crowd together in an emotional singalong of Australia’s national anthem, followed by the classic hit You’re the Voice by John Farnham. His vibrant performance culminated in the much-anticipated midnight countdown, leaving the audience energized and united as they stepped into the new year.

Sydney Sets the Global Standard for New Year’s Eve Celebrations

Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore proudly declared that the city had once again “set the benchmark for New Year’s Eve celebrations.” She emphasized that the iconic event was the culmination of over 15 months of meticulous planning and more than 4,500 hours dedicated to design, preparation, and flawless execution.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the creatives, event professionals, partners, and sponsors who made this year’s celebration possible,” she said. “Tonight, we launched more fireworks from more locations than ever before, including new aerial pyrotechnic platforms and firing positions on the western side of the Harbour Bridge. A Celebration of Culture, Music, and Unity in Sydney’s New Year’s Eve Spectacle

ARIA Award-winning rapper Nooky crafted a custom soundtrack for Sydney’s New Year’s Eve fireworks, drawing inspiration from Barangaroo, the influential female Cammeraygal leader and fisherwoman. The event also showcased powerful messages of strength and unity, contributed by Indigenous social enterprise We Are Warriors, as fireworks, light displays, and projections illuminated the Sydney Harbour Bridge during an awe-inspiring eight-minute performance.

Adding to the vibrant celebration, Australian music legends Bernard Fanning and Paul Dempsey delivered a memorable set featuring hits from their iconic bands, Powderfinger and Something for Kate. The duo also delighted the audience with a stirring rendition of Under Pressure by David Bowie and Queen. Joining them on stage were G Flip, Casey Donovan, and the Hip Hop group 1300, who performed a mix of original songs and crowd-favorite covers.

While some revelers enjoyed the spectacle from harbourside venues, others took to boats for a unique view of the world-famous fireworks display, orchestrated by the legendary Foti Fireworks—an Australian family business with roots dating back to 1793.

Sydney welcomed the new year with a comfortable 22°C and clear skies, while Melbourne’s CBD attracted over 500,000 people for its own celebrations.
